Product bundles and composites

4 min readUpdated November 4, 2026

Bundles and composite products sell several products together, often with a discount: a “camera kit” made of a body, a lens and a bag, or a “build your own PC” where the shopper picks each part. WC Currency Switch converts the price of every item in the bundle or composite, and the bundle discount is then applied to the converted price. For example, a kit worth 200 USD with 10% off shows to a shopper in EUR as the converted 200 USD, minus 10%.

How it works#

You enter all prices in your store currency (the currency set in WooCommerce, also called the “base currency”). Most bundle and composite plugins read item prices through WooCommerce, so the plugin converts them with no extra code. One plugin, YITH WooCommerce Composite Products, overwrites converted prices with its own stored values, so the plugin has a dedicated integration that corrects this.

Percentage discounts work in every currency because they are worked out from the already converted price. Fixed amounts typed into a bundle or composite plugin are the risky part: see the limits below.

Detected plugins are listed on WooCommerce > Currency Switch > Integrations, in the WooCommerce Add-ons group. ACTIVE (NATIVE) means it works through WooCommerce’s normal price functions; INTEGRATION ACTIVE means the plugin’s own integration code is running.

Bundles#

WooCommerce Product Bundles#

  • What works: bundled item prices convert, and the bundle discount is applied to the converted price, on the product page and in the cart. The bundle’s live price script also uses the shopper’s currency symbol, decimals and separators.
  • Limit: none known.

YITH WooCommerce Product Bundles#

  • What works: item prices and the live total convert. Percentage discounts apply to the converted price. Items that are not priced individually stay at zero, as YITH intends.
  • Limit: none known.

WPC Product Bundles (WooSB)#

  • What works: item prices, the minimum and maximum price range on the product page and the live total convert. Discounts are applied as a percentage of the converted price.
  • Limit: none known.

Composites#

WooCommerce Composite Products#

  • What works: component prices convert first, then the composite discount is applied to the converted price. Components loaded after a shopper makes a choice are rendered by the server in the shopper’s currency.
  • Limit: none known.

WPC Composite Products#

  • What works: component prices, the cart price and percentage component pricing (for example “100%” or “50%” of a product’s price).
  • Limit: a fixed amount typed as a component price override (for example “10.00”) is used as it is and not converted. Percentage pricing, the usual setup, is not affected.

YITH WooCommerce Composite Products#

  • What works: component prices in the cart, at checkout and when a shopper changes a variation. YITH re-reads stored prices after the plugin converts them; the integration checks the price after YITH and converts it again only when YITH has changed it.
  • Limit: none known.

Examples#

Store currency USD, EUR at a fixed rate of 0.90, no fee, no rounding.

  • Bundle with 10% off: a body at 150 USD and a lens at 50 USD show as 135.00 EUR and 45.00 EUR. The bundle total is 135 + 45 = 180.00 EUR, minus 10% = 162.00 EUR.
  • WPC Composite with a percentage component: a 40 USD bag at “50%” shows as 40 x 0.90 = 36.00 EUR, then 50% = 18.00 EUR.
  • WPC Composite with a fixed override: a component override typed as “10.00” stays 10.00 in EUR too, which is the limit above.

How to test#

  1. On a staging site, set a simple Fixed Exchange Rate for a test currency on WooCommerce > Currency Switch > Pricing (fee 0, rounding None) so you can check the maths by hand.
  2. In a private browser window, switch to that currency and open each bundle or composite type you sell.
  3. Change selections and quantities, and watch the live total.
  4. Add it to the cart and compare the cart and checkout totals with the product page.
  5. If you use fixed component overrides in WPC Composite Products, check those items in particular, or switch them to percentage pricing.
  • How converted prices are worked out
  • Price rounding and conversion fees
  • Product add-ons and options
  • Fixed prices for products and variations
