Wishlists and cart extras
Wishlists and cart extras show prices outside the normal product page: a saved wishlist, a slide-out cart, a “spend a bit more” notice. Shoppers expect those prices to match the rest of the site. With WC Currency Switch they do: a shopper browsing in EUR sees their wishlist and their slide-out cart in EUR too, even for items saved weeks ago when they browsed in USD.
How it works#
All the plugins on this page read prices through WooCommerce’s normal price functions at the moment the page is shown. WC Currency Switch converts prices at that point, so these plugins follow the shopper’s currency with no integration code and no setup. You can see which ones are detected on WooCommerce > Currency Switch > Integrations, in the WooCommerce Add-ons group, marked ACTIVE (NATIVE).
Because the price is worked out when the wishlist or cart is shown, not when the item was saved, a shopper who switches currency always sees today’s converted price.
Wishlists#
YITH WooCommerce Wishlist#
- What works: wishlist prices, including variable product prices, show in the shopper’s current currency.
- Good to know: YITH can show a “price changed” note when an item’s price differs from when it was added. When the shopper’s currency is different from the one the item was saved in, YITH hides that note instead of comparing two currencies.
- Limit: none known.
TI WooCommerce Wishlist#
- What works: item prices, subtotals and totals are read at display time, not from the price stored when the item was added. The mini wishlist uses WooCommerce price HTML.
- Limit: none known.
Iconic Woo Wishlists#
- What works: wishlist product prices use WooCommerce price HTML, so they convert.
- Limit: none known.
WooCommerce Wishlists#
- What works: the price column uses WooCommerce’s cart price function, so it converts.
- Limit: none known.
Cart and product extras#
Woo Fly Cart Premium#
- What works: the slide-out cart shows converted item prices and totals. Woo Fly Cart loads its content through WooCommerce cart fragments, which are rendered in the shopper’s currency.
- Good to know: when a shopper switches currency, WC Currency Switch clears the WooCommerce cart fragments stored in the browser, so the slide-out cart does not keep the old currency. In Instant mode (beta) it also asks WooCommerce to refresh the fragments straight away.
- Limit: none known.
WPC Product Quantity Premium#
- What works: this plugin only controls quantities (minimum, maximum, step). It has no prices or currencies, so there is nothing to convert.
- Limit: none.
Kadence WooCommerce Extras#
- What works: variation price display and the product price block convert. The cart notice reads the cart total through WooCommerce, so the total it checks is in the shopper’s currency.
- Good to know: if your cart notice uses a spending amount you typed in Kadence’s settings, check the notice in each currency.
Examples#
Store currency USD, EUR rate 0.92, no fee, no rounding.
- A shopper saves a 40 USD jacket to their wishlist while browsing in USD. Next week they browse in EUR: the wishlist shows 36.80 EUR.
- The same shopper opens the slide-out cart with two jackets: 73.60 EUR.
How to test#
- In a private browser window, add a product to the wishlist and to the cart.
- Switch currency with the switcher.
- Open the wishlist page and the slide-out cart. Prices and totals should be in the new currency.
- If you use Instant switching (beta), check the slide-out cart right after switching, without reloading the page.
