Funnels and automations

3 min readUpdated November 4, 2026

Funnel and automation plugins add their own steps around the normal shop: an order bump at checkout, a one-click upsell after payment, a follow-up email a few days later. WC Currency Switch makes sure those steps show the shopper’s currency. For example, a shopper in the UK who checks out in GBP sees the order bump in GBP, and the follow-up email shows the order in GBP, the currency it was paid in.

How it works#

Two things matter in a funnel:

  • Prices offered before payment (order bumps, upsells, downsells) must be converted to the shopper’s currency, like any product price.
  • Amounts shown after payment (order summaries in emails) must use the currency saved on the order, never the visitor’s current currency, because the order is already paid.

You enter all funnel prices and discounts in your store currency (the currency set in WooCommerce, also called the “base currency”). The plugins below are detected automatically, with no setup. You can see them on WooCommerce > Currency Switch > Integrations, in the WooCommerce Add-ons group.

Supported plugins#

CartFlows Pro#

  • What works: order bump, upsell and downsell prices, checkout product options and flat shipping fees on offer pages are converted to the shopper’s currency and shown with the right currency code. Percentage discounts apply to the converted price.
  • Why it needs an integration: CartFlows Pro reads raw product prices for its offers, which skips WooCommerce’s normal price filter. The plugin hooks into CartFlows’ own price filter instead.
  • Free CartFlows: the free version uses WooCommerce’s normal prices, so it works without an integration.
  • Limit: none known.

FunnelKit Automations (Pro and Connectors)#

  • What works: automation emails read prices from the saved WooCommerce order, which keeps the currency used at checkout. Connector actions (for example to ActiveCampaign, Drip or ConvertKit) send the product price through WooCommerce, so it is converted.
  • Limit: none known.

WP Marketing Automations Pro (FunnelKit)#

  • What works: order summaries in emails show each order in the currency it was placed in, using the currency stored on the order.
  • Admin reports: its admin statistics run in the WordPress admin, where WC Currency Switch always uses your store currency.
  • Limit: none known.

Examples#

Store currency USD, GBP rate 0.80, no fee, no rounding.

  • Order bump: a 25 USD bump offer shows as 25 x 0.80 = 20.00 GBP.
  • Upsell with 20% off: a 50 USD upsell shows as 40.00 GBP, and the 20% discount takes it to 32.00 GBP.
  • Follow-up email: an order paid as 64.00 GBP shows as 64.00 GBP in the email, even if the customer later switches the site to EUR.

How to test#

  1. Use a staging site, or a test funnel that real shoppers cannot reach.
  2. In a private browser window, switch to a second currency with the switcher (or add ?wccs_cur=GBP to the funnel’s first page).
  3. Go through the funnel: check the order bump, accept or decline the upsell and downsell, and complete a test payment.
  4. Open the order in WooCommerce > Orders. The Currency Info box shows the order currency and the rate saved at checkout.
  5. Trigger the automation email for that order and check the amounts and currency.
Tip

If you turn on Settle orders in base currency (WooCommerce > Currency Switch > General), the cart and checkout run in your store currency. Test your funnel with the same setting you use live.

  • Checkout currency options
  • The currency and exchange rate saved on each order
  • Order emails and refunds in another currency
  • Loyalty and discount plugins
